Books On Local History

The society will be meeting on 12/14 at 2 pm.  Our program will be essential oils which is appropriate for the holiday as the Wise Men brought frankincense and myrrh.
A small gift can be made for a $5 donation.  Think of someone you need to give to or a stocking stuffer.  Remember our programs normally don’t charge so we like to support them in any way we can.

We will be mostly having a celebration, so please bring a snack.  We will furnish drinks.   The museum will be closed the weeks of Christmas and New Years, but can be opened by appointment by calling 417-230-0800.  Our election of officers will be at this meeting.  The slate is as follows:  President, Julie Green;  Vice President, Linda Cutbirth; Secretary, Charlotte LLewellyn ; Treasurer, Beni Seaton; Board members Steve Seaton, Trevor Keckler, and Patti Roman.  Nominations will be accepted from the floor.

Remember dues are due!

Once again this year the Society is sponsoring the Great Ancestry Hunt for our Stone County Schools.  This contest is offered to the 9th or 10th grade classes in all five of the schools in Stone County.  We are proud to encourage our students to find out about their ancestry.   The 1st place winner in each class will receive $50.00   The 2nd place winner will receive $25.00.  They are required to write an essay of at least 500 words and made a family tree.  The essays are due March 1st, 2020
